                   Starting March 15 !!
           Afterschool Horsemanship

     Xhalt Equestrian Center is pleased to announce “Learn to Ride” after school horsemanship classes.

  This 12 week program is an opportunity for girls ages 8 to 16 to learn basic horsemanship, including horse nutrition, basic care, shoeing, equipment, stabling as well as equine management and dressage riding.

   Classes are from 3:30pm till 5:30pm weekdays.

   Classes begin Monday, March 15, 2010.

   Participants will arrive at Xhalt after school and be required to do basic horse maintenance chores including cleaning their horses' stall and grooming of horses. While under constant supervision they will be schooled in dressage riding as well as lunging and training of horses. Each student will be given the opportunity to ride and basic dressage will be taught. After the days lesson (lasting approximately 2 hours) the students will retreat to our classroom area where they can work on their homework or view educational horsemanship materials while they await their transportation home. Parents or guardians must provide for their children’s transportation home.
 

   This unique and fun program does not require prior horse knowledge, ability or equipment; nor does it necessitate the participant to ride. Rather, participants, while doing basic chores and working with the horses on the ground, learn valuable life skills such as:
• non–verbal communication
• creative thinking
• problem solving
• team building
• self–confidence

   All riding equipment will be furnished however proper attire is required. Each student will need to have work type gloves, shoes (leather covered (no tennis shoes)) and blue jeans or similar pants. Shorts are ok however long pants are required for riding

   Our goal is to provide your child with a safe, interesting and educational after-school experience based on horse management and dressage.

    We are currently limiting the number of participants to 5.

   After-school transportation to Xhalt is available. Please inquire.

   The cost of the program is $20.00 per day.
